Lighthouse is over 99% accurate, but can sometimes classify something incorrectly. For example, if a pet or object is large enough and moving on its own, Lighthouse may classify it as a human and send you an alert for it, just in case.
This ensures that Lighthouse can't be fooled by someone, for example, wearing a bed sheet as a disguise when they enter your home. It might not look like a human, but we think you should still know about it.
Sometimes, kids might be classified as adults, because like plenty of people, the teenage years are difficult for Lighthouse. Telling small children from adults is easy when there’s such a big difference, but as teens look more and more like adults Lighthouse may have a bit of trouble categorizing them consistently.
To help improve accuracy, there are two things you can do if you see a misclassification:
- Touch the three dots under the video, then select ‘Report Misclassification.’ This will send the issue to us for review; it won’t fix the problem immediately, but we'll use it to make improvements to the system over time.
- Make sure your camera has a good view. If anything’s obstructing its view of people, pets and the action in your home, try moving it.
