If you’re getting too having trouble with security notifications, please pick the topic below that fits you best. If none describe your situation, please contact us using the Contact Support option on your app’s More tab.
First, please check that your default security notification is present and active: open the app to the Home tab and look for a Ping for “person-related activity when all invited users are away” (you may need to tap Manage Pings if you’ve set up multiple Pings).
- If you see the Ping, make sure its notifications aren’t turned off (on the Home tab this is indicated with the slider by the Ping)
- If you don’t see the Ping described, just open the Ask tab, tap the microphone, and say “Alert me if you see person-related activity while all invited users are away” then confirm the Ping.
If you’re getting notifications for the Ping above but want more specific notifications, you can set additional Pings, like the following:
- “Ping me if you see anyone after 9pm on weekdays”
- “Tell me if you see people when I’m not there”
- “Alert me if you see anyone between 2pm and 4pm”
By default, Lighthouse notifies you about “person-related activity when all invited users are away,” using a Ping (custom notification). For more about that Ping, see the section above.
If you’re getting an unexpected Ping for a family member, Lighthouse may not be able to tell when he or she is home.
To avoid this happening, invite all trusted household members to join your account and install the app, so your system can tell when someone trustworthy is home. Learn more about adding users here.
If you’ve already added the person you got the alert for, something may be preventing Lighthouse from detecting when he or she arrives/leaves -- this article should be able to help.
Lighthouse may not always get a good look at the face of everyone it sees, so our default security Ping (“person-related activity while all invited users are away”) doesn’t factor facial recognition into whether it should notify you or not.
To avoid notifications for people you trust, we recommend inviting all trusted household members to join your account and install the app, so your system can tell when someone trustworthy is home. Learn more about adding users here.
You can set up Pings based on face recognition only, but we don’t recommend making that your only source of security.
If you’d prefer not to receive a certain notification (or any notifications) you can snooze them on the Home tab.
Just find the Ping (or Pings) you don’t want any more, and tap the slider next to them to silence them.
NOTE: this will disable the notification until you re-enable them.
