You can ask Lighthouse almost anything about what’s going on at home by just tapping the mic (or typing) on the Ask tab. Search for recorded video, or tell Lighthouse to notify you with a Ping if something you're interested in happens.
Here are a couple quick examples, follow by a list of what Lighthouse understands.
Lighthouse includes a preset Ping for security to notify you of “Person-related activity while all invited users are away.”
You will automatically receive a notification if the camera sees someone enter your home while you’re away, or if it sees movement that may interest you, like a door opening.
There’s no need to activate this Ping on as it automatically sends notifications when all invited users have left the home, and remains silent when invited users return. If needed, you can turn it off on the Home tab, or snooze it under Manage Pings.
In addition to this automatic Ping, you can create other Pings to keep your home secure. For example, you can ask if the camera sees anyone between certain times, on certain days, or certain people.
Searches can be very basic or very complex--whatever works best for you. Here's example of how adding 'who, what and when' terms can help you find something specific:
“Show me people”
“Show me people yesterday”
“Show me people with pets yesterday”
“Show me kids with pets yesterday afternoon”
“Show me kids between 2pm and 4pm when I wasn't there”
Searching for what you want only take a few steps:
Get started:
- “Show me ____ “
- “Did you see ____? ”
- “What happened _____?”
Add the subject you're interested in:
- “Show me the kids“
- “Did you see Andrew?”
- “What happened Wednesday?”
Add what you want to know about the subject:
- “Show me the kids yesterday“
- “Did you see Andrew with the dog?.”
- “What happened Wednesday while I was gone?”
Add more conditions (days, times, or presence/absence)
- “Show me the kids yesterday while I wasn't there“
- “Did you see Andrew with the dog while I was home.”
- “What happened to the dog Wednesday while I was gone”
Pings can notify you of something general or focus only on very specific details. Here's example of how adding 'who, what and when' makes your Ping more specific:
“Tell me if you see any kids.”
“Tell me if you see any kids this afternoon.”
“Tell me if Andy doesn’t get home by 5pm”
“Tell me if you see Andy after 10pm when I’m not there.”
“Tell me if you don’t see Andy with the dog between 12pm and 2pm on weekdays”
Building a Ping is easy--it just takes a few steps! Here's a guide to create your own:
Get started:
- “Tell me if ____ “
- “If ____ let me know.”
- “Ping me if _____”
Add the subject you're interested in:
- “Tell me if Andrew____ “
- “If ____ the kids, let me know.”
- “Ping me if the dog_____”
Add what you want to know about the subject:
- “Tell me if Andrew gets home____ “
- “If you see the kids ____, let me know.”
- “Ping me if the dog is seen_____”
Add conditions (days, times, or presence/absence)
- “Tell me if Andrew gets home after 4pm on weekdays “
- “If you see the kids on Mondays when I’m not there, let me know.”
- “Ping me if the dog is seen between 12pm and 1pm on weekdays”
People (sight-based) - Set Pings or ask for what the camera sees: “people” shows you any person, “kids” and “adults” can be used for a bit more detail, and once Lighthouse has recognized individual people you can ask for them by name.
- "Ping me if you see people on Monday"
- "Did you see John after 4pm?"
People (GPS-based) - When people are added to your account as invited users, Lighthouse can use sight and their phone's GPS (and yours) to tell who's home, who's not, and who's coming and going. This is based on users' location relative to the location you set for the camera during setup, and is not based on what the camera sees at all.
- "Let me know when Brad gets home"
- "Did you see anyone after I left?"
Pets - “Pets,” will work for both cats and dogs, or you can search for “cats” or “dogs.” Individual pets or other types of pets (birds, fish, etc) aren't recognized yet.
Lighthouse device names - If you have multiple devices and want to know about one in particular, use the name you chose for it (e.g. Front Door, Living Room) in your Ping. Otherwise the device won't know it's in a specific room, or recognize a door.
- "Tell me if you see anyone at the Front Door"
- "Was the dog in the Kitchen"
Days - Ask for days any way you want to, as long as it’s within your 30-day recorded history. For example: “today,” “last Tuesday,” “weekdays,” or even “the 2nd” (which brings up the most recent 2nd of the month).
Time - Ask Lighthouse about times of day (morning, afternoon, etc.) or specific times as long as you use AM or PM (“by 4:30pm”, “between 12pm and 2pm”). Note: military time is not supported.
Limitations - Lighthouse doesn’t yet recognize inanimate objects (like backpacks, couches or counters) or other gestures, but we’d love to hear what you’d like to see in the future. Drop us a line at support@light.house!
