You can add trusted guests and visitors as invited users to your account. Invited users install the Lighthouse app so that you stay aware of when they come and go using GPS, even if they’re not in front of the camera.
This keeps you from getting false alerts! When Lighthouse knows someone you’ve invited is home, the preset Ping for security (“Person-related activity while all invited users are away”) won’t notify you if it see someone. Learn more about security notifications.
Make sure the person you want to invite is in your phone's contacts, then follow these steps:
- In the app, open the People tab.
- Tap the icon in the upper right corner.
- Select who you’d like to add and choose to send the invitation via text message or email.
- Finally, choose their access level (details below) and tap Send Invite.
Family members without a phone can't be invited to the app, but you can add them as tagged users which uses facial recognition instead of GPS. Once they’re recognized by Lighthouse when they are seen, you can set up Pings for them. Lighthouse will still send security Pings about them, however, just in case the camera doesn’t get a good look at their faces, and you won't be able to get notifications about them based on location.
When you add invited users, you’ll be able to choose from the levels of account access listed below. No matter what level you choose, new users will only have access to video recorded after they were added to the account.
Owner: Full access to video, app, account and device settings.
Member: Access to the video and app, but can't change settings or invite new users.
Guest: See when they come and go, but they have no access to video footage or settings.
When you send someone an invite, the person will receive an email or text with a link to accept it. The invite link will last 24 hours, and the invitation must be opened on a cell phone.
After accepting, if the app is not installed, the App Store or Google Play Store will open. The person should install the app, tap "Create account," and set up a new account.
If the app is already installed, the app will open. The person should tap "Accept invite."
Owners are allowed to manage other users' access levels, switch users from tagged to invited, and remove them from the account altogether.
To change the access level, just open the People tab, tap on the user's name, then tap the user's access level. You can select a new level for an invited user, invite a tagged user to your home, or delete the user from the account.
