We take the security of your video and information very seriously. See below for details about how we protect your data:
How secure is Lighthouse?
- User privacy and data security are very important to us. All connections are encrypted with bank-level AES-256, 2048-bit keys and secure HTTP access (HTTPS) using TLS/SSL. Users log in using industry leading SRP-6a/PBKDF2 protocol. For more, view our data security page.
Can outsiders view my data?
- Your data is your own, period. No one at Lighthouse can view your footage without your explicit permission. We’ve also implemented tamper-proof software, such as digitally signed bootloader and updates, and key pinning, so that third parties can’t hack into your camera. All footage is automatically purged after 30 days and cannot be retrieved. We do not, and never will, share your data with a third party unless it’s a) required for the functioning of the app or b) legally required via subpoena. For more, see our privacy policy.
What happens if my Lighthouse is stolen during a break in?
- Lighthouse's 95° field of view and advanced computer vision mean you should have no problem getting footage of the intruder, which you'll be able to access easily from your app thanks to Lighthouse's secure cloud storage.
How do I restrict which users see my video?
- Lighthouse takes your privacy very seriously, so you have the ability to add or remove users from your Lighthouse system, including multiple permission levels (click here for more details).
Can I turn the camera off while I'm home?
- Yes, the Lighthouse app includes an option to turn the camera and/or audio off manually in case you want some extra privacy now and then.
